Avoid Having to Call Us!
What did they just say?
That’s right, we said it. Avoid Calling Us. We run a business – working on lockouts, replacing or fixing locks, etc. Thing is, we just get too many calls. Many people spend money that could have been saved just because they didn’t take preventive measures. You can’t prevent brain farts, but you can help prevent hardware failure. Of course, we’re talking strictly lockouts, since that happens to be a good source of incoming calls.
- That’s right, you aren’t alone. And quite frankly, lockouts occur many times. Did we say, many times?
How many people get locked out of their home because their lock failed to work mechanically? A fair share of people find themselves faced with this emergency. Good news is that you can do something to minimize the chance of it happening to you.
The Gist
Locks are mechanical devices, they have pieces that move. Locks are bound to take on some wear and tear, leading to breaking down. So how can you extend the life of your lock?
Quality is Important
The quality of your lock is essential to how long your lock will work. You must have a durable lock, one that can handle the weather and daily use. If you don’t already have one, then you should begin your search by finding high quality lock manufacturers. High prices does NOT mean it’s a sign of high durability. Do some research on the products you are looking at. Do not buy anything that you aren’t 100% sure about!
Maintain Your Investment
It’s highly important that you maintain your locks. This does not mean that you have to call a locksmith several times a year just to have it maintained. Although, you should call a locksmith if you find that it’s not working the way it should. A really quick and easy way to maintain your locks is by lubricating it. Most people have WD-40 in their home for other uses, use it for your locks too. Just stick the straw into the keyhole and spray it. There are other lubricants that you can use. Lubricants will not harm your lock in any way, it will strictly keep the moving parts in the lock moving efficiently. If you find that some excess lubricant is coming out of the keyhole, just simply wipe it off. It’s no big deal!
So there you have it folks. Please do yourselves a favor and follow this advice, you maybe saving yourself much more money than you would have ever thought. Until next time, be safe and be happy. Have a wonderful day everyone.
